Using Git LFS to maintain front-end documentation

  • 20 min

The Docs as Code approach is quite popular in Russian-speaking IT. According to experts, it is used by up to 50% of companies.

The approach involves applying developers' practices and tools to maintain documentation, including text markup languages, version control systems (VCS), and change reviews.

It is important to note that the developers prefer to work with text files and carefully save binaries in VCS to avoid bloating the code repository. At the same time, frontend documentation often includes images with user interface examples, which are binary files.

In the talk, we will analyse this contradiction and consider how to solve it using Git LFS.
