CUTOVER and ROLLBACK plans: why you need them and how to manage them for different operations

  • 40 min

Commonly, there are a large number of steps that must be taken when new features are released in production or when data is migrated from one system to another. These steps may be non-obvious, depend on multiple teams of persons, follow a specific sequence, have lots of complex configurations and details. If not properly planned, it can be difficult to quickly react when the project is launched, and if something goes wrong, it can end up in a complete failure.

This talk is about why it is important to make cutover and rollback plans for a successful launch, what types of operations these plans are most relevant for (releases, migrations, pilots, etc.), how to make different types of plans and review them, and look at real examples of plans from different projects.
