Modeling of Enterprise Architecture

Nowadays businesses become global, enterprises grow larger, changes occur more frequently than ever before. Standing still is actually moving backwards. Embedded into the fabric of enterprises, information technologies yet follow business needs, not the other way around.

Given this background, how should one relate business goals and processes, numerous stakeholders and contractors, hundreds of information systems, terabytes of data, complex and distributed infrastructure? How to manage changes in a global system efficiently? The answer to these questions exists; the name of this game is enterprise architecture (EA).

At our workshop we will discuss the concept of EA itself and talk briefly about a well-known open EA framework, The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF). As an example, an ArchiMate-based sample EA model of an insurance company will be presented.
