Reporting systems. In a search for universal solution

Reporting systems have many common features, and at first glance we start thinking about creating a universal reporting system. I have heard several times the phrase “Ow ... Everything is so similar here, let’s implement a universal solution”.  Is it possible?

In my talk I will describe the common elements and different features in reporting systems. There will be used 3 system: assurance reporting system; educational reporting system; internal airline reporting system. At the end everyone can get their own opinion about whether it is achievable to create a universal reporting system.
