Is it possible to improve the effectiveness of development without interaction with the customer?
Should a Systems Analyst collect, analyze and formalize requirements? Sure.
Therefore, the best practice is to work close to Customer and Business and to have an ability to do communications as soon as possible. But that is not necessary at all.
