Why Don’t We Use Requirements Version Control Systems?

A version control system has been a routine software developers' instrument for several decades. Other IT professionals such as designers and UX specialists are also gradually realizing this tool's value and are releasing their applications, providing version control.

What about analysts? Do we care about requirements version control? How can a version control system help us manage requirements in product and project teams? Why are there no convenient and modern tools for this on the market?
